Adobe DLM says Reader was at 100% and installed successfully, but lies

Reader doesn't install no matter how many times I repeat the procedure. Originally, I thought it was because of HP's pre-installed "PDF Complete" bloatware, but even after uninstall and reboot, it doesn't seem to work.

Anyone else ever encounter this problem (and its solution)?
