My dell laptop started running slow a few weeks ago and I thought the fan was blocked and causing the computer to overheat. After a week of problems I started getting the nexplore and continuous other pop ups that I haven't recieved before. Now MBAM is unaccessable even though it's been on my computer for years and avast antivirus isn't removing the problem even after Windows XP pre-boot scans. Hope this helps!

Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix.. Please visit HERE if you don't know how.. Please re-enable them back after performing all steps given..

Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop.

During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.

**NOTE: If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
  • Tools->Options->Main tab
  • Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

After that, double-click and run Combo-Fix. Let it finish its job and post the log here

If ComboFix asked you to install Recovery Console, please do so.. It will be your best interest..

Note: DON'T do anything with your computer while ComboFix is running.. Let ComboFix finishes its job..

Keep calm, make it simple, use your brain, don't freak out, and you'll be just fine..

Ran Combo Fix. I got two RUNDLL errors when XP rebooted:

1. Error loading c:\windows\system32\hufovora.dll
The specified module could not be found.

2. Error loading pirotima.dll
The specified module could not be found.

Attached is the Combo Fix log file

I'm still getting the nexplore pop-up while I type this but my antivirus/firewall is still disabled. Should I turn these back gone?

Thanks.

Well, there's nothing in this world is one "quick fix".. smile.gif

Please download TDSSKiller.zip and unzip it to your Desktop

Run the TDSSKiller and wait until it finishes (should be just a few seconds or below a minute).. Then find the log at your %systemdrive% (drive that contains Windows)

The log shall be named something like this one..

(TDSSKiller.version_date_time_log) for example.. (TDSSKiller.2.1.1_22.12.2009_19.33.44_log)

1. Please open Notepad
  • If you don't know how, just go to Start >> Run >> copy/paste notepad.exe >> Enter

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

CODE
KillAll::

File::
c:\windows\system32\dufezaho.dll
c:\windows\system32\janodewi.dll
c:\windows\system32\romekaye.dll
c:\windows\system32\sikafemu.dll

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{87dfe45b-9966-4fa9-b591-4229d7eab3d8}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"wosahefuv"=-
[hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\SharedTaskScheduler]
"{3bb8f7bd-4f2a-456e-9a21-a46ea47a95db}"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad]
"buyazihok"=-

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe/KittyFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix/KittyFix again.

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:
  • Combofix.txt
  • A new HijackThis log.

Keep calm, make it simple, use your brain, don't freak out, and you'll be just fine..

Its definitely running a lot better and without pop-ups. The ESET Online Scanner still removed a Trojan, or remnants of, even after running MBAM.

Let's clean your Restore Points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous Restore Points which are likely to be infected)
To create a new Restore Point.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK. This will flush your old System Restore.
  • Then please UNCHECK the Turn off System Restore.
  • Click again on Apply, and then click OK. This will create a new Restore Point
System Restore will now be active again

If you are using Windows Vista, please go HERE for tutorial on how to use, disable and enable System Restore

Looks good to me.. Lets do some cleanup...

Please download OTC and save it to Desktop.
  • Make sure you have internet connection..
  • Double-click OTC
  • Click the CleanUp! button.
  • Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
  • If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes
