Urgent Help Needed - Windows will not boot in normal mode

attempted to remove PSGuard using the tutorial here

After rebooting back into normal mode at step 16 the computer does not get past a windows screen saying ''Windows is starting up...." usually after this screen lasts only a few seconds before my desktop appears

Hi pomhat and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum.I think there is more to this so let's run a different scanner and see what it finds. If you have to you can download and unzip the program to a floppy disk and put it on the affected machine to run it. Then put the log file ont he floppy and post it from a working machine.

Download WinPFind.zip and unzip the contents to the C:\ folder.

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Locate the c:\winpfind\winpfind.exe file and double-click it to run it. Now click the Start Scan button to begin the scan.

When the scan is complete reboot normally and post the WinPFind.txt file (located in the WinPFind folder) back here along with a new HijackThis log and I will review the information when it comes in.
