I accidentally yanked the USB plug on my Seagate external HDD. I didnt have anything open from the HDD at all. Should I be okay? Is there any way I can verify the HDD to make sure it is okay?

It should be fine. At worst you may have lost any data that hadn't been flushed from the buffers, but you say you weren't using it so no worries. I'd recommend running chkdsk to make sure everything is is still tidy, though.
