removed antivirus live but..

This is because the Antivirus Live Virus/Malware changes your proxy settings. You will need to go to Internet Options and then Connections and uncheck use a proxy.

this rotten thing has gotten ahold of one of our pcs here, the rkill downloads show page not found on all of them

it may be something here (sometimes it's weird about downloading anything)

tried for an infected and non infected pc

Turn off your Antivirus only while you try again as it worked fine for me just now.

If the virus is running _____guard.exe then it will change the proxy settings even after you change them back. Best bet is to reboot PC and as soon as windows loads hit CRT-ALT-DELETE and end the process that ends in guard.exe otherwise you wont be able to download anything.


*****be very quick to get task manager and end process or you will need to reboot again****
