Hello Bashh and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. The first thing we need to do is update the operating system on this computer.

Your operating system is extremely out of date. By not keeping the OS updated the computer is vulnerable to every infection on the net and in emails today and trying to repair an unpatched system is virtually impossible. For update purposes, Microsoft has even stopped supporting a system that is this far out of date. Go to the Windows Update site and install Service Pack 2. Once that is done, go back to the Windows Update site and install all available Critical Updates. This will patch the system with the most current security fixes and plug all the known holes which are present on this system.

After all of the updates have been performed post a new HijackThis log back here using the Add Reply button and I will review it when it comes in.

Cheers.

Hello Bashh. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it to your desktop.
  • Double-click on KillBox.exe.
  • Click Replace on Reboot.
  • Click on Use Dummy to select it.
  • Paste the line below into the top Full Path of File to Delete box.
    • D:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkkpd.exe
  • Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
  • Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt.
  • Click "Yes" at the Delete next Reboot prompt.
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.
When it reboots, reboot into Safe Mode as described inthe next step.

Step #2

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] D:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkkpd.exe reg_run
Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):D:\Program Files\rdso\ <--folder
Step #5

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Bitdefender <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean'.
RAV <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean', leave everything else as is.
eTrust <<<'Cure' whatever is found, then delete if unsuccessful
Housecall <<<Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.
Panda ActiveScan <<<Accept default settings
If there are any files that cannot be automatically disinfected or quarantined then you will need to delete them manually.

Step #7

If you do not already have Ad-Aware SE 1.06 then follow these download and setup instructions: Ad-Aware SE Setup. Otherwise, just check for updates.

Start Ad-aware SE, click the Start button and choose Perform Full System Scan. Click the Next button and wait for the scan to complete. If anything was found, right-click on the list and choose Select All and remove all it finds.

Step #8

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

Hi Bashh. There might be more here than what we are seeing in the HijackThis log. Let's run a different scanner and see what it shows us.

Download WinPFind.zip and unzip the contents to the C:\ folder.

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Locate the c:\winpfind\winpfind.exe file and double-click it to run it. Now click the Start Scan button to begin the scan.

When the scan is complete reboot normally and post the WinPFind.txt file (located in the WinPFind folder) back here along with a new HijackThis log and I will review the information when it comes in.

Ahh yes. We have an L2M infection and a Qoologic infection in there. Let's remove the L2m first.

Print these directions or copy/paste them into a Notepad document and save it to your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
  • Download l2mfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.exe to start the installation.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts.
  • Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing the Enter key.
  • Press any key to reboot your computer.
After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, Notepad will open with a log. Post that log along with any additional information as directed below.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Post the new L2m logs back here along with a new HijackThis log and I will review the information when it comes in.

Hi Bashh. Ok, Let's get the rest of the files. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Download the Pocket Killbox and unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to your desktop.
  • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into the new document

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\gkggyqqs]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{4f2b2d2e-6c0d-48e5-b1f7-3d46b9d1b980}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{4f2b2d2e-6c0d-48e5-b1f7-3d46b9d1b980}]

  • Save the document to your desktop as fixreg.reg and close Notepad.
  • Locate the fixreg.reg file on your desktop and right-click on it
  • Choose Merge from the popup menu and answer Yes or Ok to any further prompts. You should get a message that the file was merged successfully.
  • Double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Highlight the files in bold below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard
    • D:\WINDOWS\dsr.exe
      D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ddddsgg.dll
      D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dkdda.dll
      D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wuauclt.dll
      D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vgactl.cpl
      D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\dcdd.exe
      D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{5E70RQU4-N865-6307-D5423453040Q}
      D:\WINDOWS\System32\dkdda.dll
      D:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkkpd.exe
  • In Killbox click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard item
  • In the Full Path of File to Delete field drop down the arrow and make sure that all of the files are listed
  • Click the option to Replace on Reboot
  • Click the checkbox to Use Dummy
  • If not greyed out click the checkbox for Unregister .dll Before Deleting
  • Now click on the red button with a white 'X' in the middle to delete the files
  • Click Yes when it says all files will be deleted on the next reboot
  • Click Yes when it asks if you want to reboot now
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just reboot manually
  • After the system reboots, start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] D:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkkpd.exe reg_run
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {9E248641-0E24-4DDB-9A1F-705087832AD6} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Java - {9E248641-0E24-4DDB-9A1F-705087832AD6} - (no file)
  • Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.
  • Reboot and post a new HijackThis log along with a new WinPFind log
I will review the new information when it comes in.

Hi Bashh. That looks better. We still have 1 leftover file to remove. It also appears that TizzleTalk is now installed ont his machine. TizzleTalk installs advertizing software from PurityScan/ClickSpring which will display popup advertising on the computer. It is recommended that TizzleTalk be uninstalled and the folder deleted. Otherwise there will be popups caused by this software on the computer. The choice is yours as to whether or not you want to put up with it.

Ok, please follow the steps below in order.

Step #1

Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into the new document. Save it to your desktop as regfix.reg :

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"apcvis.exe"=-

Locate regfix.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?". Answer Yes and wait for a message to appear similar to Merged Successfully.

Step #2

Double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Highlight the files in bold below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard
    • D:\WINDOWS\system\apcvis.exe
      D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\{5E70RQU4-N865-6307-D5423453040Q}
      D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vgactl.cpl
  • In Killbox click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard item
  • In the Full Path of File to Delete field drop down the arrow and make sure that all of the files are listed
  • Click the option to Delete on Reboot
  • If not greyed out click the checkbox for Unregister .dll Before Deleting
  • Now click on the red button with a white 'X' in the middle to delete the files
  • Click Yes when it says all files will be deleted on the next reboot
  • Click Yes when it asks if you want to reboot now
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just reboot manually
Your system will reboot now.

Step #3

OK. Post back a new WinPFind log and I will review it when it comes in.

I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hi Bashh. Looks like we still have one of those files hanging on. Let's remove it again.
  • Double-click on KillBox.exe.
  • Click "Delete on Reboot".
  • Paste the line below into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.
    • D:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vgactl.cpl
  • Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
  • Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt.
  • Click "Yes" at the Delete next Reboot prompt.
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.
After the reboot, post back a new WinPFind log.

Cheers.

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.
