Hey, this is my first post here and I appreciate you guys helping me.

Recently, one of my laptops got a virus on it, some fake antispyware. After some grueling work I finally got rid of it. For someone who's not great with computers it was somewhat fun, almost like doing detective work haha. The virus was in some hidden folder inside some other hidden folder inside somewhere else.

Anyway, the virus is seemingly gone but I can't access the internet. Both IE and chrome are giving "unkown" errors, as in, they don't know what the problem is, and Mozilla isn't starting at all. My PC and other laptop work fine so the problem is with this previously infected laptop. I spent a ton of time trying to research it online and it SEEMS as though it's a networking problem having to do some HOSTS or an incorrect IP address or something along those lines.

I also PING'd a few random websites and they all responded, if that narrows it down at all.
I'm (probably the most recent) windows XP, and the laptop is a new HP mini netbook.

So any ideas? Thanks in advanced!

Anyone have any ideas? I need this for work and I really don't want to take it to a technician. Thanks!
