Combofix does not run beyond scanning for infections

I have run Combofix several times to remove various Malware cases on Windows XP Pro SP2 systems. On 20-01-2010 and 21-01-2010 I downloaded fresh Combofix's and on the first day it went well up to the point of "ComboFix is scanning the computer for infections" (see screen dump in http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/h...o-use-combofix). This screen appeared and normally I expect to see the program progressing through various stages, but I even left the computer running overnight without any progress. The next day I downloaded a new version, hoping it would be resolved, however this was not the case. For the past 60 minutes I have the same result. I will let the computer run overnight once more, but I don't think it will show signs of improvement.

Anyone experiencing something similar or has a suggestion that I can try in order for Combofix to start going through the stages?
