I have tried everything from HP and I am unable to uninstall and then reinstall either of these 2 units. The 8500 always wants to install additional software never allows an original install option and the 4300 always installs as a 8500. I have used recova/ccleaner/hp method and physically removed every item I could find but something is still hanging up the reinstall.

When you removed everything, did you follow it up running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
Open it and see if there are any entries for HP

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Sorry but the MS software did not show any HP items. I spent 3 hrs talking to HP reps in India and Canada but I did get the problem resolved. It revolved around the software/PC not recognizing the IP device and they ran a L3 cleanup utility that is installed on the HP disk. There is an L4 util but they said do not use it unless you want to spend time reinstall other programs. The rep in India did not know about the the L3 util.
