Two days ago Desktop Defender 2010 found its way onto my system. It would give me the standard random "We've found spyware!" popups and such. However, I feel there may be something else, something much more sinister on my comp. Security center would disable on startup, and I'd have to manually go into services.msc to restart it. Once I restarted it it kept giving me a warning about Unauthorized Remote Connection or something. I downloaded DDS and RootRepeal. The DDS logs finished, however the RootRepeal log refuses to finish. I installed MBAM, Spybot, and AVG, ran them all and had them quarantine and fix all problems, and currently the machine runs okay. I'm afraid to restart it however, because my system still shows some Desktop Defender files that refuse to delete. I'll post the DDS and Attach logs, but RootRepeal refuses to run.

Hi,

First of all...

* Please download the Suspicious File Packer from here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/files/sfp.zip
Unzip it to the desktop and run it.

Paste the following bold part into the Suspicious File Packer window:

c:\windows\system32\gp3jpvvvemks.exe
c:\users\chris\appdata\roaming\gp3jpvvvemks.exe
c:\windows\system32\lgp3jpvuuem49.exe
c:\users\chris\appdata\local\temp\E570.tmp.exe

Allow SFP to pack the file. This will generate a CAB archive on your desktop.
Go to this page.
Enter the url of this thread in the first field.
Where it says, browse to the file that you want to submit, click the browse button next to the second field and browse to the CAB archive that was been created on your desktop.
The cab file will be called requested-files[*].cab (the * stands for the date and hour).
Then click the Send File button below.

Is above log from before or after you have used malwarebytes?
Because I can't see any references to malwarebytes in this log and malware appears to be still present and running here and I know malwarebytes can deal with this one.

Please post the malwarebytes log and a new DDS log, this to make sure.

Hi,

Rootrepeal may fail on Vista, so don't worry about that.

First of all, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion is outdated.
  • Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"
  • Once the updates are downloaded, perform a quick scan again.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
