i have a dell inspiron 600m laptop running windows xp and here's what's going on:

when i turn it off, it retains nothing from the previous session. in addition, my personal settings are wiped out and I have to re-configure everything when i turn it back on, including internet. my personal settings are not detected and the computer opens up in "guest mode".
i was getting this message as well:
worm.WIN32.NetSky detected. virus is distributed via internet through email + active-x objects. worm has SMTP engine.
type: virus
system affected: windows 2000, nt, me, xp, vista, 7
security risk (0-5): 5

The message did not come from my security programs, but from something attempting to look like is was.

can someone hlep me get my laptop working?
