My computer is infected with worm.win32.netsky.

I restarted in safe mode and ran an AVG scan and it said 3 infections were quarantined. Upon normal startup, the virus/malware program was still there.

After reading some of the forum postings, I ran OTL and saved logs. I then ran a scan using GMER, both in safe mode. The GMER scan was taking awhile so I left to go do something. When I cam back my computer had restarted, itself. It restarted windows in normal mode but virus was still there. I tried to restart in safe mode and now my computer's screen stays black and doesn't start windows. It does this when I try safe mode and normal startup.

I don't know what to do, please help!

FYI
Lenovo Thinkpad T61
Windows XP Professional

I am able to access the rescue and recovery utility by pressing the blue "thinkvantage" button. Either my last backup did not run or the virus did something to it as there are NO system restore points other than default (factory) restore.

I really need some help here, this laptop is an integral part of my life.
