I just bought an old IBM workhorse laptop with a Windows XP Professional label on the underside. HOWEVER - it is not running XP Pro, just plain old XP Home. I have a CD of the XP Pro install and I am tempted to take a backup and then fire up the CD of XP Pro and install it.

Any thoughts or warnings?

I don't want to go up to Vista or Windows-7 as I am quite happy with the way XP Pro performs for me.

IMO most do not need the extra features, for average home XPbHome will do all you need. I had it on my Dell for a couple of years and pulled it for Home, another plus Home runs slightly faster then Pro.
