Hi...i see that if the service messenger is on that you can send messages via the net to the home ip address throggh the net from the command line

for example: "net send 127.0.0.1 JPC43 rox" sends a pop up to my self saying jpc43 rox

what i was wondering is if you can send it to other ip addresses..barring their service is automatic? i think it would be neat to use as a messenger service with friends

most likely :

A) The service is disabled by SP2

 A firewall will block the request

C) The ISP might block the port

D) Messenger service only accepts net sends from the same subnet (not sure about that one)

etc.

The messenger service is not an alternative to a IM Client. It is moslty used by network admins to notify users of a server shutdown, etc.
