Hi, sorry if this is a stupid thread, I would just like to know how to reformat my laptop and install Vista from scratch with NO remnants of my old system, i.e. no windows.old folder, and no partition.

Boot from Vista DVD, remove all partitions, create new partition, format it and install Vista.

In short, insert Vista DVD, boot from it. Vista setup would start, when you reach to select a partition, delete them all one by one. then create a new partition in the unpartitioned space.
