Hello all,
I am a newbie to fixing my own computer and was referred to by a few people too give this site a try.......heres the deal,
IBM Thinkpad / 1830-F4U / R51 / XP pro /
This is a old work computer that we have using at home, no recovery cd's / kids downloaded a worm / got an xp disc from a co worker and re formatted / everything seems to be working but my internet, it will load the home page and if you veer from that home page it opens another web page and the computer is locked. :flowers: I did realize that framework.NET is not installed on the unit, I will be doing that tonight. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. My last resort is too reformat again and see what happens.

Thanks for any assitance

Hi .

Just to be sure...you did reinstall the networking drivers for that system...obtained from the IBM/Lenovo website?

No error messages?

Thanks .

Next step will be to take a look in Event Viewer and look at the detail for the last 5 errors you have listed there. We are concerned only with errors noted, not informational items or warnings.

How To Use Event Viewer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40108/how-to-use-event-viewer/

If you can post the Source, Event ID, Category (if listed) for those 5, that will be good. Along with that...when you double-click on these 5, a new window will open with some detail under Description (1 sentence). If you can post that for each (don't bother with the Microsoft/XP blurb), that will help.
