Hi,
I have Windows vista operating system, compaq presario, and I have had encountered major problems with start up and shut downs over the past few months.
It seems like every two weeks or so, my system goes into slow mode. I reboot and it can take 15 minutes to shut down, then same with start up. Then after a day or so, it is fine again. Then 2 weeks later the same thing. This time, probably the worst in the past 2 months - it would not start up at all. Then I ran the windows look for repairs program, Recommended, and after an hour or so, it came back up. However, it still is creeping.
I will gladly supply more details if needed ( I am at work now), but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for fixes.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I've had this problem from time to time. It is due to improperly shutting down the OS. If you want to shut it down quicker and fix the problem I have talked about this in my blog posts:

I haven't had those issue for quite sometime. You can also start up in safe mode(pressing F8 on the startup screen) and shuttind down in safe mode that will usually fix the problem for a while. Just something to think about!!

Type in start>msconfig>click enter
When msconfig opens click on services tab
Then bottom left check hide all microsoft sevices, you will then see all the items you have on start up
Be careful what you check or uncheck in this tab but you can uncheck the items you think you don't need at start up
Then click start up tab click on selective startup>apply>enter
A window will open asking do you want to restart computer now or later click restart
You should see some improvement then !

The other option you could use is black vipers web site http://www.blackviper.com/ follow all his instructions and you can tweak your services to enable you puter to run better !

Hope this helps you out !
