summary of problem:

1. cannot load windows XP in anything but Debugging Mode
2. Computer freezes when attempting to run virus scanner or other spyware/adaware programs (or attempting to get into registry?)
3. virus/trojan/spyware causes GOOGLE links to go to other links

summary of specs:

on a dell optiplex 745 on windows xp home edition. i have norton antivirus 360, advanced systemcare 3, spybot search and destroy, malware adaware.

detailed story of problem:

recently i have had a problem where i get a blue screen just after the windows XP load screen. it goes quick and then recycles the boot protocol. i've managed to freeze the screen when i do "disable automatic restart on system failure" after F8.

blue screen says: "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to you computer. if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps: disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. technical information: *** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF78D63DC, oxF78D60D8, 0x8B0E2805)"

i can only manage to load in Debugging Mode, nothing else works not even Safe mode.

once i've been able to load in Debugging Mode, i tried to load up some of my programs to clear out the junk, however it freezes at certain times, such as when Live Update goes on, or when I reach a peak in trying to run my spyware/ad programs and virus scanners. it seems like it just doesn't want to do that stuff. it works fine when left alone. i know it doesn't freeze randomly because i've tested it by letting it sit there for a long time, then as soon as i load that Norton it goes to freeze.

one other big noticable problem was that in google search, when i click one link, it goes to other random links.

any help would be greatly appreciated!! and ask questions too
