A couple days ago I stumbled upon the bleepingcomputer forums in a google search and signed up. I already knew that I have a computer infection. So I went to the section for posting logs to try and find some help. I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps in the read before posting thread..

My post was very detailed in my opinion. I've updated that thread once already with some info I forgot. But I need to update it again. I was looking closer at it today and I can't seem to find a edit button anywhere. I don't know how to do that. I even checked my profile where I've been checking my post. Last time I only added another post to the thread. But it looks like the contents got merged?

I'm also a little worried about it getting misplaced. I know the other thread asked for people who are asking for help to be patient because you all are very busy. I am really trying to be patient with myself but it is only making me more antsy. I'm not trying to make a pest out of myself. So if it bothers anyone I'm sorry. I just don't know if I should be worried or not.

My post is not the only one sinking down in the forums so quickly. An immediate assumption can be made from this: **It makes everyone look very shorthanded?** I've watched my thread go down four to eight pages a day. Is it going to get lost?

Anyway, no one has to answer that part of the post if they don't want to. I just wanted to know how to edit a post. I looked around in sub forums and there doesnt seem to be a appropriate place to post this topic. Or rather it doesn't belong anywhere else in the forums? I hope its ok if I post it here.

Oh and if there isnt a edit post feature this is some of the stuff I wanted to add to my post:

questbooster.com
spywarescan9999/OR/####<--four digit number.
comparedbyus.com
yoursearch.com
info.com
cyber security
perucoffee.com

Those are some of the websites that I noticed are repetitive and frequently get redirected on my computer. Could someone add the website detail to it if it is the case? I don't want to push my topic out of place.

Many thank yous from a simple worry wart.

Hi and Welcome to BleepingComputer,

The reason you cannot find the edit button is you can only edit a post for 24 hours after it was made.

I see that your post is in the HijackThis section of the forum and that is the one, and only, section of this forum that it takes a very long time to get replies. That is because it is a specialized forum that only members of the HijackThis team can help in and there are a lot more people wanting help in that forum than there are helpers. It also takes having the right helper for your problem to be available.

It usually takes 10-14 days to get reply and you should not make a second post in that thread because that will make it look like you are already receiving help and cause your post to be overlooked. I think that is probably why your second post there got merged with the first, so it would not look like there was a reply to your original post. Don't worry about your post getting lost because it moves many pages down the list, it won't.

Just be patient and they will get to your post as soon as possible.

The info you are wanting to add to your post is not important enough to worry about putting in there before you get a reply to that post so do not worry about it. You can give that info to them after a helper picks up your post.

While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large, as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Athough our HJT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.

Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, you wouldn't want someone to assist you who is not familiar with your issue and attempt to fix it, would you?

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible.

Thank you for understanding.

Thank you for the replies. I'm sorry for being such a fuss bucket. My computer is still acting really strange and having the same problems. It also has been having trouble staying connected to the internet. I haven't been able to get on the forums at all because of it. At first I thought your website had an outage or was doing some kind of maintenance. (Or thats what it made me think.) But I now think whatever is going on with my computer blocked it from working in my browser. I was looking at the steps that were provided in the thread I posted and tried doing the dds scanner. It doesn't seem to be working either. I don't know whats wrong with it. On top of that, the thread was closed. Should I start all over with a new thread? :/
