Antivirus Live removal

I'm having a bit of trouble removing the 'Antivirus Live' program and associated trojans from my boyfriends computer. On Monday night, one of his friends came over and decided to try to download some movie torrents from piratebay.org. Since then, the computer has been infected with Antivirus Live. On Monday night, I followed the instructions here to the letter, and the computer was working fine until Tuesday evening when the virus suddenly came back. Throughout Monday night and Tuesday morning, I was running antivirus and MBAM checks every couple of hours and none of the programs came up with any errors or infections and THEN the virus came back (although, when I asked him, my boyfriend said he just checked facebook and played plants vs zombies for about half an hour). I'm worried that even though I've 'removed' the virus again (followed the instructions, and even enetered regedit to look for the associated files and registry keys) Antivirus live may still be haunting the computer, ready to come out at any time.

So, essentially, this is a precautionary request to make sure the darn thing has gone. I'm just basicaly doing what I can to solve this without reformatting. I've attached the DDS and rootrepeal reports as requested, and already backed up the registry and the important data on the computer. For your information, in case it makes any difference, the 1TB harddrive is partitioned into two seperate spaces - the smaller of which is the system drive. All data, music, films, tv shows etc are kept on the second partition. The file I believe to have been the cause of the infection was on the system drive and has since been deleted.

The current anti-virus tools installed are AVG Free, Super Antispyware and MBAM (free). Windows firewall is turned on.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.


Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
