hp laptop will not start up

stuck at microsoft screen and wont load up the rest of the way

What model HP laptop?

Do you have recovery/restore disks on hand?

Is there any onscreen error message?

hp laptop dv4000 no recovery disc bought at a rent to own place no message its right when i power on where the microsoft comes up and the blue light acts like it is loading but the screen just goes black like computer shuts down before my desktop loads
