It has come to a point where I have to consult others about my current blight. My laptop has become highly uncooperative this past week. I have installed spybot, adaware, and AVG... updated all databases... removed all infected files... I even manage to run scandisk and defrag... yet, the problem has gotten worse. My DSL connection is now laging at a snail's pace. I get the ever-so wonderful blue screen of death after leaving my computer signed on AIM for a few hours. My screen redraw is slower than molasses whenever I leave the computer running a while. I sometimes lose command shortcuts (i.e. cntrl+c, alt+f4, etc) as though the modifier keys aren't being recognized. And to top it, I even have a 100% kernal usage while idle with no programs running and my zonealarm internet on lockdown. What gives? This laptop has seen better days. I can't wait to get my new MAC for graduation. Here's the HJT log for anyone to help me with. Thanks.

Blake

Hello blakie_poo and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. After reviewing your log I see that you are running msconfig in /reminder mode which means that you may have selectively removed some items in the past from the startup procedure. This can hide malware from us when we are performing a fix, so we would like you to reenable those startup entries by doing the following:

Please click on Start, then Run, and type msconfig and then press Enter. When the window opens you should be on the General tab. Click on the Normal Startup item. Then press ok until you are out of the program. It will ask you to reboot so reboot normally.

Now please create a new Hijackthis Log and post it here as a reply. I will review it when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.
