Hi my computer was infected with a virus and i didnt even download anything. I got it while surfing on google chrome which does not work only mozilla firefox works. Anytime I try to access any program or even Add/Remove Programs from control panels it stops me and says the application cannot be executed. The file ____ is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now and an Antivirus add would pop up. Please help me.

Also viagra.com window keeps opening up as well as some other porn sites.

I tried downloading DDS but the virus will not allow me to execute the file.

An alert also pops up that says I have BankerFox.

My Windows Security Center keeps popping up.

So which Anti-virus program do you have and is it enabled?
If not, I suggest you get hold of a good anti-virus suite and install it asap!

Some recommendations:

BitDefender
ESET Smart Security a.k.a NOD32

As far as Firefox is concerned, download and install the following two Add-Ons for it:

AdBlock Plus
NoScript

Not to worry.

You can use a linux based Live-CD like Knoppix, to boot up and remove all infectious content from your hard disk.
Here's a useful list.

Another list.

What you need to do:

1. Dowload the ISO image file of a Live CD.
2. Burn the ISO image onto a disc.
3. Set the BIOS option, to make the CD/DVD drive as the primary device in the Boot Sequence Order.
4. Save and Restart.
5. The LiveCD should boot from the disc now.
6. Use the anti-virus tools available and scan the Windows drivers for viruses and backup content if necessary.

When everything is back to normal, please revert back to 'hard disk' in the Boot Sequence Order.

Good luck.
