I bought and uninstalled Registry Patrol. I now know it is a Rogue Software.

After the uninstall, I cannot save files. If I need to maneuver to another folder, it tries to save my item as {name of folder}.lnk So far, I have the problem with 'jpg' and 'doc' files - these are the only ones I have been working with recently.

I checked your Rogue Software and Uninstall area, but did not find anything specifically for Registry Patrol.

I did a Full scan, taking 12 hours, with Microsoft Security Essentials which found nothing.

Figgis41 - You have been so encouraging, thank you.

Discouraged - Pat

Cannot help with your specific issue, but would once again advise everyone to stop downloading anything that offers help with your Registry. Just stop doing it.

Sounds like one of your registry keys has been changed or altered!! Have you tried to create a new user and see what happens when you save a file on the new username?? That would be where I'd Start off with!!

Thank you for the thoughts. I am considering upgrading to Windows 7 to get rid of the problems. I just don't know that the upgrade will fix it all.

In an attempt to see if Windows 7 would help, I downloaded the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It stopped and said "Error has occurred, try downloading Advisor again."

After 3 attempts with all three failures. I contacted Windows who said there was 'something wrong' with Vista. They could not help because it is an OEM software.

Pat, I just cannot seem to catch a break.
