Hi!

I'm running Windows XP Pro. I had a virus yesterday, and ran rkill.com & Malawarebytes to remove 4 infections. I then installed Avira Anti-Virus (free edition).

Now Internet Explorer will only display sites that begin with "https". I downgraded from IE8 to IE7; same results. I downloaded Google Chrome; that won't display any websites. Firefox works fine for everything.

I found a solution for the HOSTS file; the computer only had a file named "hosts.old", so I followed the instructions for HostsXpert. When I opened it, it told me a host file didn't exist then offered to create one. I did - same problems as before.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Darcie

Yesterday,I un-installed Avira & Malawarebytes, and installed all the updates from windows (which put me back to IE8). Now Chrome works, but IE still doesn't!
(Yes, I did re-install Avira afterwards.)

Am I posting this to the wrong place & that's why I'm not receiving an answer?
