Both drives have to formatted separately, but the main question is: you want to format and what then?

Boot with Windows 7 DVD and it'll format your primary drive for you and install Windows 7 on it.
Then from within Windows, you can format your secondary drive.

Exactly.

As long as you chose Custom during installation (make sure you pick the right drive!), the old files on the drive will be gone, and you will have a fresh, clean install of Windows 7. :thumbup2:

Enjoy!!
