I want to set up my video files to play on VLC media player, then after a few hours, I noticed that it ALWAYS changes back to Winamp. How can I stop this?

Get WinPatrol and will keep Winamp in check: http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html

Any way to stop Winamp from doing this w/o a 3rd party program? I mean it never did this before on my other computers so there's gotta be a way

Unfortunately, I've noticed very same issue with Winamp on my computer. Every time, I use it, it tries to change some file association.
If not the fact, that I like Winamp's features, I'd really want to get rid of it.

Okay thanks. I just downloaded and installed it. What am I supposed to do now?

Just make sure, WinPatrol runs at a startup. Next time any application (including Winamp) will try to change any file association, you'll get a pop-up from WinPatrol and you simply click "No".
