Ok so the new internet explorer is more secure but surely its not so secure that genuine Active X applications should be blocked?

For example I can't do online malware scans because the plug in window does not appear, so hence can't install the plug in.
Have had this problem for a while, basically since I updated to IE8, noticed it originally when having problems with bebo photo uploader.

I have been playing with settings in the last few days to try and tighten it up a bit but have just reset to original default and still the same.
Also tried runnning IE8 in no-add ons mode, but still the same.

I don't use firefox or any other browser, just IE8. Didn't have this problem with IE7.

Can anybody help?

gmcraib,

This has happened to me to. I went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling IE8 and it is still the same. I can get the Windows Live One Care on-line to work and Trendmicro Housecalls to work. Have you tried them?

Funnily enough I did get windows live scan to work, but that is it. Haven't tried much else.
Now have hardware problems anyway but still hoping that somebody can think of a solution soon.

Bit of a pain!

Even though Bebo uploader is not specified, it still might be worth looking through this:

Release Notes for Internet Explorer 8

Edit: If you have not already done so, you should also run Windows Update whenever you change versions of Internet Explorer just to make sure that everything is up to date on your computer.

Thanks for posting. I have tried the steps in relese notes and still have problems.

Am planning on installing windows 7 in a few days anyway so hopefully they won't follow onto new OS!
