I have a Lynksys WRT54gs Router at 2 locations and use a Dell Laptop with Intel Pro/wireless 2200BG card

Using speed test at either location and I get average of 3mb download and 1.5 upload.

When using another computer directly connected to the router I get 10-12mb upload.

I have tried messing with Transmission rate with router settings (default is auto) and wireless card data rate (use default rate).

It's not terrible but I want to know why the difference and can it be upgraded
