This Toshiba Satellite A135-S4407 laptop (Vista Home Premium, SP2, 1GB RAM) used to run a lot faster, now takes 30 seconds to even launch simple programs. I followed all the instructions on the do-this-first page: ran cclean and ATF-cleaner, checkdisk, full (image) backup to an external drive, full Norton AV scan (no threats, removed 27 tracking cookies), msupdate and defrag have been on and succeeding regularly, did pcpitstop scan and removed 3 craplets from startup, driver check with Toshiba shows drivers pretty much up-to-date, loaded speedfan and checked cpu core temps (59-67C, both cores), no obvious lint buildup or fan blockage, tried to load and run Kaspersky, but it won't run if Norton Internet Security 2010 is installed, and I don't really want to uninstall that unless I have to. I ran DDS and RootRepeal, but don't know enough yet from looking at the reports to tell if any malware or rootkits are present. Everything in the dds.txt output looks legit for what's loaded on this laptop. This laptop could use more RAM (only 1GB w/Vista), and it has more startup stuff than I probably need, and I'm looking into that as well, but it used to be a LOT faster than it is right now. All the cleanup freed up about a sixth of the HDD space (39.5GB of 91.6GB is now free), but performance doesn't seem any better. Any help appreciated, and I really hope I'm not wasting your time!

Thanks,
Chuck
