cannot acces certain websites

A few weeks ago I noticed that when attempting to acces legit websites that that I can acces on othe computers I was re directed to ask.com , I went to their website and followed their "advice' to unistall their tool bar from the Add/Remove programs list but it was not even listed , I went on to install firefox to see if it could access the websites and the same thing occurs with that browser also , lately When I try, I hear a Pop sound and now only get the default Internet explorer cannot display the webpage , I have read around and I have seen many people having problems with ask.com .I think something is embedded in the OS. It all stareted there with ask.com I am running Xp pro sp2 with IE7 and Firefox also now . I am at wits end please help me . Sincerely submittted
Update : being a bit impatiant I ran combofix on my own and afterwareds the webitsites in question that would not open ( tenyardtorrents.com ) and few others opened right away However upon restarting back to same problem as before , Combifix did not appear to delete anything, I have log ready if needed . Please help.
