Winavi Runs Slow On Old Computer Any Way To Speed It Up

When using winavi on my main computer 1ghz cpu 256 ram it is 7yrs old 400mb 27min video takes 2hr 30min to convert. On another computer 2.8ghz 1gig ram Winavi take 20min to 25min to convert same video, so is there any way to speed up Winavi on my main computer without having to upgrade ram or cpu
