I have an HP H470 mobile printer with which I initially set up wired, but then decided to purchase the USB wireless dongle. All was well for about a year, working the printer from two PC laptops, then a Dell & a Mac laptop currently. Two-three months ago, I came home from work, tried to print via wireless & I got nothing. I freaked out & unplugged, plugged, powered off, powered on... not necessarily in that order. In the end, I believe it began working again, but since that first time, it still will intermittently (with no rhyme or reason, seemingly) just plain not work via wireless dongle. I plug in the USB & all is fine & good, but wired. This is a severe pain when working with two laptops, even worse when working simultaneously.

The blue wireless light on the dongle sometimes goes off & sometimes it doesn't. Currently, the dongle is not working & the light is off. I needed to print from both laptops early & had to plug & unplug my USB cable to do so.

Google searches are infuriating, as is searching HP's site (the troubleshooting link sent me to the Warranty page *grr*).

I'm seriously debating searching out a new printer with 802.11 b/g built in & not some stupid little dongle that chooses to work when it feels so inclined & keep this printer for back up. Besides, if I could get a dependable wireless printer, I could move the darn thing off my already-too-cluttered desk.

Laptop Info:

Dell Inspiron 1525: Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM

MacBook: OS X 10.5.8, 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

The blue wireless light on the dongle sometimes goes off & sometimes it doesn't

That would suggest a questionable bad connection or internal problems

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits

The dongle has probably reached the end of its useful life.
So you could just get a new bluetooth dongle or purchase a new wifi-enabled printer.
