Hello, I would first like to show my gratitude and appreciation to everyone dedicated to helping people like me with problems.

System:

Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Problem:

I went to a website (microsoftmediaplayer.net/pluginerror/ or microsoftmediaplayer.net/ )and downloaded a filed named as codec_update2.7.exe. After I ran the program nothing happened. My computer has been acting funny in the following ways:

Every time I search something in google, the results show, but when I click on a certain link of interest, it continues to take me back to google.com/webhp

Sometimes when I reboot the computer, the blue screen pops for a moment, then takes me to windows

Upon attempting to close a process from task manager, I was advised I did not have the privilige

Please help, thank you.

Edit: Links disabled, to preclude possible infection. ~tg
