Just wanted to do the polite thing and intro myself - I decided to join this forum after some web searching led me to a thread on this site that helped me with the PSU test on my mother-in-law's HP Pavillion PC.
This in turn helped me to locate the real problem with the machine and fix it (turned out to be a badly crimped pin on one of the PS connector pins to the motherboard that worked fine for 18 months, but finally lost contact/let go
just before Xmas).
I am an electrical engineer doing consulting work, specializing in designing HW and writing FW for embedded systems, but I also do some PC application development.
