The Auslogics icon has the 'shield' on the shortcut and is UAC controlled, the Avira has not and does not need permission. If I change Avira to 'run as administrator' the 'shield' appears and needs UAC permission to run. In this setting Avira scans are more thorough.
My question is:- whats the correct way to install exe files. I normally right click file, properties to see if unblocking is needed then R/C again and 'run as admin' to install.

You can tell Vista to Always run this As Admin:
Always run an Application as an Admin

Although UAC still pops up for you it makes sure you don't forget to run it as an Admin. This is a good little trick for programs that run better or requiring to run as admin!!!
