As of this afternoon I have removed Kaspersky IS 2010, and now use Microsoft Security Essentials (the only thing in the Start menu). I use Windows Internet Explorer 7, Office Professional 2007, and SigmaPlot 11. Acronis backup runs manually. I did have trouble with scheduled backups several day ago but deleted that feature. C++ is loaded but otherwise the computer is about as clean as I can make it. I still have surprise USB keyboard lockups requiring a reboot. These lockups seem to be random, sometime occuring when I am not even working on the computer and sometimes in Internet Explorer (I just hope I can get this posted!). Your suggestions are appreciated.

Not sure how you got to Windows 7 (Upgrade or new installation) and I would have thought Win 7 installation would have loaded IE8?
If you have not already done so I'd check supplier sites for your Display card and NIC for Windows 7 drivers (and maybe your keyboard/mouse supplier) as drivers can be one reason for instability after Windows 7 installations.
