ps/2 mouse to usb connector

I have a ps/2 mouse and a usb laptop. I got a ps/2 to usb connector. and enabled bios to accept ps/2 and turnoff touchpad, but the laptop doesn't recognize the mouse and doesn't turnoff the touchpad. Please help

You probably need something that connects and converts PS2 to USB, like this

If you converted the PS2 to USB, then wouldn't the bios need to be set to accept it as a USB mouse, not a PS2?

I can't afford the converter. I might as well get a usb mouse for what they want for the converter. Thank you for the suggestion!

I changed the bios to accept the ps/2, but it still doesn't work. There must be somebody that got the connector to work?!?!

Thanks for all your replies! You were right. The device I got was passive. You need a active converted do convert. I bought a mouse...much cheaper.
