My son downloaded some "wii points generator" which of course was a bad idea. He then tells me about 3 hours later that it had said something about files were being deleted... so I assume he of course downloaded a virus. Anyways so now his monitor is not working. I unplugged all the cables, tried it again, nothing just black screen. The most I got was a compaq screen and black after that. I tried using his sisters monitor and her monitor wouldn't work on his computer either. I tried using different connector cables, still black. Any ideas on what is the problem? Is it possible that this virus could have ate a monitor driver or the video card?

did you format your p.c ? try it once this might remove the virus from it , format all the drive after taking the back up of data.

I am suggesting (internally) that your post be moved to one of our malware forums.

Be patient, please.

Are you saying the startup screen won't even show when it first turns on or that you cannot get into the BIOS to run a rescue CD?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
