Hi guys,
First post here - I noticed you guys seem pretty on the ball at fixing this stuff. Generally I have never had a Malware I could not remove myself but this is the first one.

It is a browser hijacker - only affects firefox (not IE), and whenever I choose the 'Did you mean xyz' on the google search page, I can see in the status bar it is making connections to waitsearch.ws & pleasewaitclick.com.

I have googled the web with not much success in removing this little gem. I have tried the usual malwarebytes in safe mode etc, but not having much luck. I did read on another thread to use Kenco and post a log, so I have posted below - perhaps it is useful. I am using Windows 7 x64 by the way.

If anyone could assist it would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hiya, :(

Sorry for the delay.

Please download GooredFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Ensure all Firefox windows are closed.
  • To run the tool, double-click it (XP), or right-click and select Run As Administrator (Vista).
  • When prompted to run the scan, click Yes.
  • GooredFix will check for infections, and then a log will appear. Please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredFix.txt).
Still getting redirected?

Kind regards,
~ t

I do not accept personal donations for assistance provided. I would ask that you instead consider donating the greatest gift - Organ Donation. Your organs are of no use to you when your gone. You will save a life that would otherwise be lost!

Excellent. :(

Lets make sure there are no leftovers....

First note...

:( P2P Warning :)

Your log indicates that you have uTorrent installed.

Avoid gaming sites, pirated software, cracking tools, keygens, and peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing programs.

- They are a security risk which can make your computer susceptible to a smörgåsbord of malware infections, remote attacks, exposure of personal information, and identity theft. Many malicious worms and Trojans spread across P2P file sharing networks, gaming and underground sites.

- Users visiting such pages may see innocuous-looking banner ads containing code which can trigger pop-up ads and malicious Flash ads that install viruses, Trojans and spyware. Ads are a target for hackers because they offer a stealthy way to distribute malware to a wide range of Internet users.

- The best way to reduce the risk of infection is to avoid these types of web sites and not use any P2P applications. Read P2P Software User Advisories and Risks of File-Sharing Technology.

Note: It is pretty much certain that if you continue to use P2P programs, then you will get infected again.
I would recommend that you uninstall uTorrent, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, you can do so via Control Panel>> Add / Remove Programs.

If you wish to keep it, please do not use it until your computer is cleaned.
