Hello everyone,

Recently there has been a program that downloaded itself onto my computer and prompted me to 'install' a new microsoft update which looked dogey, (This was after i used IE explorer for the first time in a while normaly a firefox user). I Closed it and went on with my things. Then it poped up as i was working, and Clicking about and the 'Install' Button convienatly apears right where i was going to click. On accedent i clicked it, realised what i had Done, and Emergency shut down my computer while removing the internet connection.

Upon reboot. i noticed alot of new Processes active. one called settdebugx which i terminated, found the originnal location and terminated it as well. Another interesting thing was that IE was open an running in the background at a set rate of 18,844k

I terminated ie, and it reopened itself. Then the computer froze, After another restart my computer would freeze up after 5min of use after log in. Now, i cannont even use my computer normaly i can only use SAFE Mode. I am on a Windows XP OS by the way (using another Pc to type now)

I tried to run scans in safe mode, and to gather Hijack this logs but i could not install any files in safe mode, or in normal mode when it still worked, ive tried to run it from the usb, and the Installer starts in Processes, but never gets any further. this is for Mcafee and Hijiack this Etc.

I also found some Icons which were porn realted when i found the Settdebugx file, and i deleted them as well.

I am unaware on what i should do reformatting is really a last resort. if someone is able to help me make Hijack this work, i would Glady post any logs.

Thank you very much.

Hello Ryan,

I had the same problem and it was frustrating :inlove:
Even Malwarebytes anti-malware was blocked, so i could not run any scan.

What i did, i downloaded ATF Cleaner:
Choose the option: Select All

Then i downloaded Hitmanpro:

Put the program on a usb-stick and run the program. It found that s*cker and i could delete it

After that i could run Malwarebytes anti-malware again, and now my computer is clean again.

I hope this can help you too.
Good luck :flowers:

Grtz Vannelle

Excuses for my poor English grammar (i'm Dutch) :trumpet:
