When i try to login to facebook, twitter, msn, yahoo, ect., i get redirected to the aol search and it tells me the website cant be found. I can view webpages, i just cant login. For example when i go to facebook and try to login i go to this link...

hxxp://aolsearcht3.search.aol.com/aol/afe?query=https%3A%2F%2Flogin.facebook.com%2Flogin.php%3Flogin_attempt%3D1&s_it=DNSERROR

The web address you entered could not be found [more information]

You were trying to go to hxxps://login.facebook.com/login.php?login_attempt=1

The error could be the result of a variety of things, from typing errors in the web address to DNS issues with the requested web address. Check the web address for typing errors or check your internet connection to ensure other web addresses are accessible.

Somebody please help me out I cant afford to take the computer to somebody to fix it nor do I have the money to download any programs..I'm gonna have to do this manually. Thanks for you time and help in this matter.

Hi Earnhardt1fan,

Welcome to BC HijackThis forum. I am farbar. I am going to assist you with your problem.

Please refrain from making any changes to your system (scanning or running other tools, updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might interfere with our fixes. Please let me know in your next reply if you agree with this.
  • Optional:Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This changed from what we know in 2006 read this article:

    http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

I suggest you uninstall the following program via Add or Remove Programs if your are using it:

    Viewpoint Media Player.

If you uninstalled it also remove the folder in bold: C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

  • Open your Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
    • First update it, to do that under the Update tab press "Check for Updates".
    • Under Scanner tab select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Copy&Paste the MBAM log.
    Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

  • Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3

    * IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

    • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. (Information on A/V control HERE)
    • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please copy and paste the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Hi farbar, first I appreciate the help and the rather quick response time to my post. I wish I had seen your post earlier because if that would have fixed my problem then it would have been much easier than the route I took which was a full system restore or wipe if you will. I just could not stand the aggervation any longer and I assumed it would be awhile before I got a response from anyone on here. Either way the only thing I really lost was sleep tryin to download everything that I needed back on here. Hopefully the problem will never return, but if it does I know where to come for help now. Thankyou
