have been trying to connect to the internet on my daughters desktop
She is running XP Media -Fios isp
The ip address shows up
the subnet mask shows up
the default gateway-dns server-and wins server do not have any values shown
Can any body help ?
p/s she can connect on her 2 laptops ok

There can be a lot of things, what I would try is repairing the connection see if that works. Open control panel then right click network connection teh click repair, might do the trick.

does not work tried many times
it says local area connection 2
speed 100.0 mbps
status :limited or no connectivity

More information is needed here. What is the actual IP address and subnet mask given? if it is 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then you are getting an Automatic Private addressing from windows which will not work and means you aren't getting an ip by dhcp. Is dhcp enabled? Check by running ipconfig /all. How is the computer connected to the FIOS? Throught a network? Directly to the modem?
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

IP address 169.254.53.206
Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0
Box is connected directly to computer
I do not know if dhcp is enabled or not ,will check when I go up there again
