Hi flyboyiii,

ive cleaned my laptop several times, using rdriv.sys cleaner, and several other tools found in this forum following the directions posted by you for others.

That rarely works anymore, so isn't a good idea. Every computer is different and usually the number and kind of infections are different from machine to machine. You also seem to have some new variants. So please do this:

I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now copy the following files into that directory:

C:\WINDOWS\lsa.exe
C:\WINDOWS\upnp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\service.exe
C:\WINDOWS\smsc.exe

To copy the files simply navigate to the directory they are in and right click on the file name then click Copy. Now go back to the c:\submit folder. Right click the folder and select Paste.

Once the files are all copied zip the folder and rename submit.zip to flyboyiii.zip. If you are not sure how to send the files to a zip folder click the following link for a tutorial:

How to create and extract a Zip File in Windows ME/XP/2003

When the files are zipped click this link to go to the BC submisions page:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php

1. Fill in the required fields and then click the Browse button.
2. Navigate to <membername.zip> abd click the Send File button.

Also please click this link-->Jotti

When the jotti page has finished loading, click the browse button and navigate to the files I've just listed above, then click Submit. You will only be able to have one file scanned at a time. Please post back the results of the scan in your next post.

Those appear to all be backdoor trojans, so you need to install a firewall right away so they don't download any more malware on your system. Here are some good free ones:

Sygate Personal Firewall
Kerio Personal Firewall
ZoneAlarm

Understanding and Using Firewalls

Once that is done, scan again with HijackThis and post a fresh log so we can see if anything else has come aboard since you posted and then we'll work on geting rid of it.

OK, if you would, please try again after unhiding files and folders. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

If you you still can't see those files, just skip that step and post a new log for me. Send me the one file if you can.

I'm assuming you did a reinstall instead of a reformat. If you want to reformat that is up to you. We can probably save you from that, but either way you go is going to be time consuming. If you installed the OS over the top it won't help getting rid of the bad files that are already there. You'll have to wipe the drive by reformatting to remove--well, everything.

Let's see a new log so we can get started or let me know if you want to do something else.

OK, please do the following:

1. Download killbox from here:

KillBox

Unzip the folder to your desktop. Don't run it just yet.

2. Go to Start>Run and type in services.msc and press Enter.

Look for the following service in the main pane and double-click to open its Properties.

lsa driver service (lsaDriver)

Click the Stop button if it's not grayed out.

In the Startup type field, click the little blue arrow to reveal the drop down menu and choose Disabled.

Click OK.

Do the same for the following services:

UNIVERSAL PNP (UPNP)
WindowsService (WINSERVICE)
System Messenger Service (WINSMSC)

3. Now scan again with HijackThis. Put a checkmark by the following entries, double-checking to be sure that only these entries are checked:

6. This process will clean out your Temp files and your Temporary Internet Files. Please do both steps:

Step 1:Delete Temp Files
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there.

Step 2: Delete Temporary Internet Files
Now I want you to open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

7. Reboot back into normal mode.
