Hi, when I burn divx movies on my dvd player only some of them will play. Here are the stats of a video that the dvd player won't play. The screen remains black and the counter skips up by 2 or 10 second bursts.

Format : AVI
Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave
File size : 1.38 GiB
Duration : 2h 14mn
Overall bit rate : 1 465 Kbps

Three that work have bit rates of 1288 and 1243 and 1072 Kbps and they play fine. The ones that don't are 1465 and 941 Kbps.

Burn was around 4x-6x on an 8x burner. Media was DVD-R (sony). Software is Roxio Creator DE 10.2

Dvd player is Lenco Ldvx.

It seems like half of the movies that I burn play, half don't, even on the same disc! They are all xvid movies and the only difference I can tell are the bit rates. Any idea how to get it so that I know how to make them always play when I burn to dvd?

Unlike the DivX software on computers that can be updated to the latest version, DVD players are limited to the (older) version they were released with. Newer players support newer standards.

For best results, I suggest you use the official DivX converter.
