Don't know how to find out what my motherboard is. And I need to put in a better graphics card than I've got (at least GeForce 7xxx). Will the board take it, and how do I put it in if it does? Here's my system info; sorry if there's too much, but I'm not sure what's important and what's not.

Welcome to BC,

Your Motherboard is made by ASRock.
It has 1 AGP X8 slot for your video card.

I am using New Egg as an example of the different cards available.

You can look here to see how to Install an AGP Video Card.

Thanks rachet48. I need to install at least a GeForce 7xxx video card - will the motherboard take it and do I need to uprate the power supply - AC 230v? Your help so far is much appreciated this side of the pond.

Video Card: ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB or greater, NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256MB or greater, Pixel shader 2.0 and above.

That's apparently what I need for the new application I've already bought. Can I at least get one of those cards on this motherboard?

Please please please say yes. And be telling the truth.

OK, the local computer services lot have offered me a 1.5v AGP card, GeForce 7600 with additional power put through a splitter; they assure me they won't fry the board and it will work - all installed for 55. Good deal? Is there a risk? And if so, is it worth taking?
