Hello all.

In IE when after searching for something I get a list of results but my system injects a ref to a javascript script. The browser resolves the url and gets the script. The which updates all the links on the search results page and the browser . The url of the js scripts is httq://jsfeed.net/js.php?l=1&u=280 I have attached the script as Artifact1.txt.

McAfee reported finding and Quarantined the following:
Generic.dx!gmk
Generic Downloader.x!che (in two places)
SealthMBR.c

Additionally on the 25th the HelpAssistant user was created. I have disabled the account and removed the duplicated content there.

The hook that injects the code does seem to be selective but not limited to google. The post location changed since McAfee found the virus.

Comcast has emailed me stating that the night I ran the full AV scan they had to turn off port 25 due to spam going out from my computer.

I have found that Chrome does not appear to be affected.

I have attached the requested files in addition the js code identified above. (only changed the http to hxxp.)

Thanks to all in advanced.

Matt

Downloaded Hijackthis and ran it. Which produced the following log. Thanks again for any guidance.

I have noticed that the redirect problem has not occurred since I have run HijackThis program. I plan to reboot and test.

Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results, click no to the Optional_Scan
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet. You can find information on A/V control HERE
