Hi to All and Happy Holidays,
At first it started out as just a slow pc, which then when on to jumping pages at sites. tabs were very slow to respone to mouse, turning more pages than wanted, then screen would go black sometimes after sitting. Then if left alone (sitting idle) it would make you log back (this is a shared pc) on to pick up where you left off (still doing that, didn't have to log back on, before whatever this is thats going on...) There may be more than that as I first posted on over in "am I infected ? What can I do ? garmanma/Mark was helping me at first.. And if your reading this garmanma again let me say thanks ! My post there was titled Am I infected ? elves, trolls, or what ? slowwwwww pc can't boot into safe mode. I'm running XP Home SP3 Can't get into safe mode using the F8 method (would have liked to for the malwarebytes and SuperSpyware programs) Did I forget to mention I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing ? lol Below I hope are the logs which garmanma said I should post please be patient as I will be with you.....lol And thanks to whoever takes on this task, I really do appreciate it very much !
Robert

Hello! :(
My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

In order to see what's going on with your computer I will ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process.

We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from here
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys
    nvatabus.sys
    viamraid.sys
    nvata.sys
    nvgts.sys
    iastorv.sys
    ViPrt.sys
    eNetHook.dll
    ahcix86.sys
    KR10N.sys
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the "Quick Scan" button.
  • The scan should take just a few minutes.
  • Please copy and paste both logs back here in your next reply.

=============

The next log will show us any hidden files that are present.

Download GMER from here:
  • Unzip it to the desktop.
  • Open the program and click on the Rootkit tab.
  • Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
  • Click on Scan.
  • When the scan has run click Copy and paste the results (if any) into this thread.

Posted Image If I have helped you in any way, please consider a donation to help me continue the fight against malware.

Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again. Please thank your helpers and there will always be help here when you need it!

Please try to copy and paste logs when possible instead of attaching them. It just makes it much easier to review all that information if I can see it all together. :(

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Important!
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an Malware Removal Expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Make sure that you save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Posted Image

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please copy and paste the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Hi Sam, Sorry about the way I posted the logs last time.... I didn't think till later on last night that all I had to do to copy and paste them was go to notepad.... I'm still a real newbie to this stuff... So anyway heres the logs, pc seems to be running much better now, but hey your the pro you tell me what the logs say....lol
Also what do I do with all the programs I downloaded for this fix, OTL, GMER, Combo Fix, RootRepeal, Win32Diag, DDS, and there logs on my desktop.... I'm not deleting a thing till you (someone here) tells me too...lol
Thanks for the help ! ! As this is my ex's pc (long story but kids are involved) I'm asking her to make a donation with your link.....

P.S. ooopppsss Spoke to soon Sam, just took it (the pc) out on a little run around the net, still slowww to change pages and download pages after I get to the sites... And some frezzing up, also doesn't seem to want to keep up (even) with my slow typing skills .... Ok thats the last change I'll make to this post till you reply again...lol
Thanks again in advance..
Robert

Download this file and save it to your root directory, usually C:\ <- (Important!).
http://www2.gmer.net/mbr/mbr.exe

* Go to Start > Run and type: cmd.exe
* press Ok.
* At the command prompt type: c:\mbr.exe -t >>"C:\mbr.log"
* press Enter.
* A "DOS" box will open and quickly disappear. That is normal.
* A log file named mbr.log will be created and saved to the root of the system drive (usually C:\).
* Copy and paste the results of the mbr.log in your next reply.

Hi Sam, root directory ? you lost me there buddy, lol ... I wasn't kidding when I said I don't know that much (anything really) about what we are doing here... I can follow instruction's and do tests and things of that nature, but when you start talking root directorys and such I'm at a lost.. sorry... As I said earlier, this is my ex's pc, I asked my ex (just called her) if she's had anyone try to help her with Remote Assistance, but she says no she hasn't... But I don't know for sure... Don't know what we can do about that now.... Isn't there somewhere in internet options (or somewhere else like that ? ) you have to put a check to allow someone to be able to do that ? Reason I ask is I think I've seen it before and at the time I made sure it wasn't checked because it sounded like a good way for someone to hack into the pc with that checked.... So if you'll walk me thur the above procedure I pretty sure I'll get it... thanks for your time and patience..
Robert

Ok, let me clarify.

Click Start -> My Computer
You should see your main hard drive listed there. That is your root directory. Double click to enter it.
This is where you need to save mbr.exe and run it from.

If you have mbr.exe downloaded to another location you can just copy it and then paste it to the root directory location.

Well done! :(

Copy and paste ALL the following text in the Quote box below into Notepad.
Click on File(in the menu at the top)>Save as../Save as Type: 'All Files' /File name: CFScript to your desktop.

MBR::
Prior to running Combofix.exe you should disable your antivirus program.

Now drag then drop the CFScript file onto ComboFix.exe as seen in the image below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again.
After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply.

Also post a new log from mbr.exe after Combofix runs.

Hi Sam, I must be dense, sorry this isn't making much sense to me either....anything I I try and copy from here and click on the file at the top left hand side seems to want to be saved as a web page after clicking on save as... besides I'm not sure where or what needs to be copied or save (where to start).... And ALL the code in the box is MBR:: ? heck I can't even seem to find a way to open Notepad, every other time its been opened automatically for me after doing some test or other thing... don't pay any attention to the hair on the post, I'll try not to leave much.. The way I keep pulling it out I won't have much left after this...lol Its not your fault, I'm sure all this makes perfect sense to you ...lol

Ok, let's try this a different way and see if it's easier.

Click Start button.
Click Run
Enter in this command below and hit enter.

c:\mbr.exe -f

You may get a security Warning. Please allow it to Run
A black window will appear then disappear, this is normal.
Go to your C:\ Directory and post back with MBR.Log

Ok Sam, went and did that, and got "windows cannot find 'c:\mbr.exe-f'. Make sure yad, yad, yad... So I tried Seach and it couldn't find it either.... Yesterday I got the CFScript on desktop by just clicking on file, then Save As... and after it opened up I clicked desktop (that got it off save this web page) then just typed in CFScript (I did this while on this page) clicked save, and it downloaded what looked like you wanted me too. And it was on my desktop so I draged and drop it..etc, etc.. Then ran what you told me to, and thats where I got what I posted yesterday from. So I didn't get the part of MBR:: in there unless it was included in the CFScript... Your being a BIG help and I do appreciate it...pc does seem to be running better, but its still not like it should be...

When you type in that command make sure that you have a space between C:\mbr.exe and -f
