It seems to be (while im writing) stuck at "finnishing installation. Information: "Purging" or "executing purge" (its in swedish, so it might not be the exact correct translation. It spent about 10 mins making safety copies and installing and has spent 30 stuck at the same place. Il give it another 30 then cancel. I dont expect an answer in time, although i will check here before i cancel. Can malware impede the process? On a side note, no updating since purchase 4 years ago of anti-virus. Has previously been used by my gandmother who only used it to write and play the occational in-built game (gees, i sound like a used car salesman, did i mentione it has only gone 20 miles

I dont know any technical specs, and i dont have any papers avaliable to check.

FWIW: You really should have been installing SP3.

There are, IIRC, approximately 100 or so security updates from SP2 to SP3...and there are an additional 63 or so security updates which ought to be installed for anyone installing SP3 as of 24 Dec 09.

I suspect that your system is quite vulnerable.

In some people thoughts SP-3 is a option. I my thoughts it's a necessity for security.

I'm siding with Louis and Layback on this one...If you are going to keep using XP, SP3 is critical...period....
Does this look like an OldGrumpyBastard or what?
