My parents are currently using a computer with XP Home on it, and they told me they noticed an odd bar with a "R" on it in the menu/toolbar (start bar thing). It's like when you have a page/application open, but it doesnt open, close, give options when you click it, or anything. It's also on the right side, instead of left (even with nothing else running).

It's like a logo, but no text. A yellow "R". I provided a link to a image to try to show you... They have also run Ad-Aware, and Avast!. Nothing found. They also rebooted, and it still happens.

It sounds like a toolbar?

Try this ...
Right-click on an empty area of the Taskbar, and move the mouse pointer to hover over "Toolbars".
Do you see "R" listed as one of the toolbars?

On the Taskbar, adjacent to the "R" button, is there a small "two-headed arrow", and if you click on that, does the content of "R" display, in a Quicklaunch style "drop-down" or in this case "rise-up" menu.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly, I cannot find this "R" on the toolbar list. None are checked either.

You might also want to run scans with SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes

Nothing happens when I left or right click it.
